Shark Fishing in Namibia |
Species The main quarry has to be the bronze whaler, or copper shark (Carcharhrinus brachyurus ). Shore caught specimans grow to over 200kg. This is the top predator in these waters, feeding on other fish and smaller shark species. For a shark of 100kgs or over, expect at least a 1 1/2 hour fight, maybe twice that long or more. Other species include smaller sharks and rays. Edible fish such as the kabeljou and steenbras can grow to over 45 lbs. It is the choice of the angler on the day as to what the target species will be. After several days of catching back breaking bronzies, you might want to target the edible species. You might want a day off to recover!
